How it works
We do these five things. In this order.
It might look like magic, but really, it’s these five things.

1. Get crystal clear about the audience
Like you, we're researchers and we've got a ton of experience in understanding audiences. We also know how to use video to influence, entertain and inspire anyone who watches.
Do you have different messages for different audiences? No problem – we'll work together to find the right mix.
Not only do we need to understand who they are, but we also need to know what you want them to do once they see the video. Then we can make it happen.
2. Understand the insights to find the story
As you know, research data isn't a story and nor is a PowerPoint deck – your story need to be crafted from the insights, the data and the context.
Nobody gets your research project like you do, but sometimes an outside perspective can help to see your story another way.
We can also look at your insights through the lens of video production and create the story that makes the most sense for the format.
3. Shape the story for video
Just like a PowerPoint deck isn't a story, a book isn't a film script. Finding the story is only the beginning – video storytelling adds another layer of complexity.
We'll take your insights story and create a narrative, write a voiceover, figure out how to visualise data and charts, and how to get the right balance between what we show and what we tell.
4. Find the evidence and create the assets
This is where the desk research skills come in. We take a journalistic approach to storytelling and look for evidence and context beyond your story. So if you have preexisting video such as vox pops, IDIs, groups or ethnographic footage – great – we can take footage from that. But if you don't – also great.
We'll find cool stock footage and cultural references, we'll create animations, and we'll film whatever other footage we need – either in the studio or on location. And if you need to include expert interviews or talking heads, we've got the skills to find the experts and write and conduct the interviews (did we mention that we're all researchers?)
We can make the videos in your branding and house style or find something new, just for you.
5. Bring it to life
And finally – video production. Once we've got the storyboard tied down, we're off.
Up until this point, you can be as hands on or hands off as you like and we'll check in with you as often as feels right to you. But this bit is all us. The timing varies depending on the video, and whether it is digital, live footage or a mixture, but we'll crack on until it's time to send you the first edit.
This is the most exciting part of the whole process – and we can't wait to see how you react the first time you see your new video. From then on, it's just a matter of making any tweaks and polishing the video, like the shiny jewel that it is. Ta-dah!
